Antonio Duran Y Chaves Don
Antonio was ailing in 1705 when his father, Don Fernando, asked for his position as commander of the soldiers at Atrisco, but in 1712 he was perfectly healthy when engaged in fights with his father and brother Francisco against a certain individual. On March 23, 1718, after complicated dispensations were granted, Antonio, widower of his first wife, married a cousin, Antonia Baca.(ORIGINS PG 162) In order to marry Antonia he had to labor anually one day a week for 4 months at the Parish Church, and begging alms for the porr souls;he had to donate 1000 adobes for the Albuquerque Church and another 100 for the one in Bernalillo cemetery, working personally for one whole week at each place.(Roots;pg 305,306) Antonio married Magdalena Montano, daughter of Juan Antonio Montano and Isabel Jorge De Vera, about 1705 in , NM. (Magdalena Montano was born about 1688 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.) Antonio next married Antonia Baca on 23 Mar 1718. (Antonia Baca died on 15 Feb 1770.) |
