Maria Josefa De Hinojos
The identity of Maria Josefa's father can only be guessed at. Her Ynojos surname points to several adult Ynojos men among the refugees of 1680 at El Paso del Norte, none of whom returned to New Mexico. The most likely candidate is Miguel de Ynojos who held the encomienda of Humanos Pueblo after 1661. Miguel had a reputation of having children by the Indian women in any of the pueblo alcaldias which he served.(Chavez, p.87) Maria married Diego De Montoya II, son of Diego De Montoya and Maria De Vera. (Diego De Montoya II was born about 1658 in New Mexico 56.) |
