"Juan de Archuleta II, presumably the son of the Juan de Archuleta who was executed for his involvement in the assassination of Governor Rosas, was thirty-eight years old in 1664 and a resident of La Canada. As a Rio Arribal leader, he was a sort of lackey to Governor Penalosa. Before this, in 1661, he had acted in the same capacity to Governor Mendizabal. Around this time, or later, he was sent to the bison plains to bring back the Taos Indians, who had fled from their pueblo. (Origins, p.6)
Juan married Maria Lujan, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, about 1653 in New Mexico.158 (Maria Lujan was born about 1630 in New Mexico.)
